A Duel by the Italian painter Ludovico Marchetti (1853-1909). This well done genre painting is obviously strongly influenced by "The Duel After the Masquerade" by French grandmaster Gerome.

Thank you... I like it
ReplyDeleteThe Duel After the Masquerade by Gerome was memorable, wasn't it? But it was hauntingly cold and tragic. Marchetti's duel is more colourful, more about movement, less about open landscape.
