Faded Laurels

Faded Laurels (1889) by the British painter Edmund Blair-Leighton (1853-1922). Beautiful cheesy middle ages, could also be a scene from the Lord of the Rings.

  1. What you call cheesy many an aging rock star would call harsh reality.

  2. But that's exactly the point. Blair-Leighton should have painted then a present day musican, not a 19th century romantic in a medieval costume.

  3. That's a really strange argument to make on a blog you've titled "Painting History". Even rock stars occasionally refer to themselves as troubadours.
