The people

Peasants and townfolk are encouraged to take part in the battle of Worringen 1288.

Painting by Peter Janssen (1844-1908)

  1. The battle AND the painting are still famous here in Düsseldorf. The painting can be admired in the town hall.
Some believe that the peasants decided the battle. But as well you can read, that the peasants slew allies and enemies alike, because they couldnt distinguish the coats of arms of the knights.
